Poems for Daedalus was an audio visual performance installation which took place at Daedalus Street, the studio of Rowena Hughes and Athanasios Argianas on Dedalidon street, Athens in November 2018. The night was presented in conjunction with the launch of my book Poems for play.

Daedalus Airs is a mix of nine segments from the Poems for Daedalus performance which are placed in the same sequence of events from the night, each one with an emphasis on found intimacies from inside the building and from its street outside. Time of flow celebrates the flow of water that flushes through the building’s pipes between 8pm and 9pm, due to the bodily rythms of the upstairs neighbors. The water pipes were amplified for the event. The fifth segment, entitled Ella Capella ( little she-goat ), was a staged lock in where the audience listened to the street actions through frosted glass. The seventh piece is a sound walk performance. The sound was captured with a handheld wireless microphone and transmitted a live feed inside to the listening audience. Dedalidon street inside reveals a mesh of the two spaces.

The instrument in the photograph is a Yamaha Electone Electronic Organ. A member of the audience kindly lent it to me for the night.

Thanks to the three participants in Ella Capella; Yiorgos, Paola and Giannis and my thanks to Daedalus Studios for facilitating the show!
